Skeleton unearthed by workmen

A human skeleton was unearthed by workmen digging foundations for a Council housing site at the village of West Boldon near South Shields, yesterday. The bones were found about 18 inches deep in what has been an open field. A police spokesman said that a preliminary examination by a doctor showed that the skeleton had probably been buried for more than 50 years. An inquest will be held.
