Story | Robert served with the 4th Battalion (6th Foot) The Kings Royal Rifle Corps. He was the 4th son of Robert Jobes and Margaret Jobes (nee Gowland) and Brother to Ralph H Jobes. Robert was educated at the Boldon Colliery Board School and was empoyed at Boldon Colliery as a miner. He was a keen footballer and while he was in India he won seven Medals. He enlisted on the 6th of May 1910 and went to India in December 1912. On his return he went to France and Flanders with the Britsh Expeditionary Force. He was killed in action on the 30th of July 1915. His name is listed on the Ypres Menin Gate Memorial
