Story | Recieved The MBE (Military Division) gained by his action on July 12th 1942 when with the help of a sergeant and a private he cleared a minefiled of about 50 mines when a heath fire near an Army campin the Eastern Command spread to the minefield itself. Some of the mines were hot as the fire passed over them, but Lieut Morrisons action made it possible to avert the danger of the whole minefield detonating. Lieut Morrison is the eldest son of the late Mr A H Morrison who was made an honorary Freeman of Sunderland after serving in the Boer War, but was killed in the Great War. His stepfather Capt F.B. Davison also served in the great war, won the Military Cross and served in WW2 with the Leicestershire Regiment. In Civil life Lieut Morrison was a gymnastic instructor under Newcastle Education Committee at the Technical Commerical School Walker.
